The Actor’s Forge is phenomenal.

As an Actor returning to the industry after raising a family, I wanted somewhere to go to work on my acting while inbetween jobs. Somewhere away from my hectic family life, somewhere with other actors where I could practice my craft, network and learn new skills.

The acting industry is such that, at any given moment, you could be asked to self tape or audition with a prepared monologue.

You wouldn’t hire a plumber who only thinks they can fit your bathroom, or someone who will ‘give it a try’. You would hire a plumber who’s been trained and knows how to do the job properly.

Casting directors expect you to be on top of your game. They want to work with actors who can act.

Of course you could just wing it and take your chances and hope that you have the look the casting director wants OR you could be regularly training with other actors and receiving feedback on your performance and working to improve yourself so that when the opportunity arises you’re not just trying to blag it but you can offer them a fully formed, practiced piece of character work.

Simply put, the Actor’s Forge is not an amateur dramatics group, there is no final show to work towards, it requires no long term commitment. It provides a safe, fun environment to come and practice your acting skills when you need to.

Dan’s classes are designed for any actor working in the industry, he is always on hand with practical advice on current processes whether you’re just starting out and are unsure what to do next to move your career forward or have been in the game for years and simply looking to brush up on your skills.

In addition to the weekly classes, the Forge offers regular, sell out, masterclasses and workshops with TV and Film industry professionals, working Actors and Casting Directors and anyone who attends any of the weekly classes are offered priority tickets before general release.

I love the fact that the Forge offers a pay per class option so I can fit them in around my life and other commitments.

The classes are great value for money and the option to block book classes at a discounted rate is perfect for those who want to attend regularly.

If you’re a working Actor from the North East, attending a class at the Actor’s Forge in Newcastle should be top of your to do list.
