Hello!

In our final Master Class of the year we are running a self tape bootcamp alongside Casting Director and acting coach Manuel Puro!

Manuel has kindly created 50 places on his course workshop for members of the Actors Forge community.

You will gain access to some great resources and scripts to help you with your self tapes as well as flexible access to upload your own videos to youtube in your own time!

You will also automatically be enrolled into a prize draw with a chance to win a self tape ring light!

Manuel Puro –

Manuel has over 20 years casting experience working across feature films, television, computer games, commercials and shorts.

Projects include MOON and MUTE directed by Duncan Jones, SHAUN THE SHEEP: FARMAGEDDON for Aardman Animation and PLANET OF THE APES: THE LAST FRONTIER, the first in-house video game from Andy Serkis’ The Imaginarium.

Manuel regularly hosts mentoring sessions with organisations such as the National Film and Television School, iFeatures and the Directors Guild of Great Britain, and has held casting workshops all over the world.

He was the winner of Mandy.com’s inaugural Casting Director of the Year Award – voted by actors for the CD they felt most comfortable with and who they thought got the best out of them.

In 2017 Manuel created The Acting Habit, an innovative online platform where actors from all over the world can share their work, receive and give feedback, experiment creatively and learn new technical skills.

Self Tape Boot Camp

Self-taping is a fantastic way for actors to audition for roles remotely as well as an opportunity to experiment, flex your acting muscles and create fresh work to include in your showreel.

In this online Bootcamp hosted on the Acting Habit platform, Manuel will set three different self-tape exercises each with an increasing level of difficulty. During a set timeframe, you will have the opportunity to attempt as many of the exercises as you like and to submit your self-tapes for general feedback from Manuel and other participants in the Bootcamp.

At the end of the Bootcamp on Friday December 18th there will be a live online Q&A with Manuel where you will have the chance to put your questions to him directly and find out how to nail that self-tape!

HOW DOES IT WORK?

On Friday December 11th the Bootcamp will begin. You will be provided with a choice of three short audition pieces – you can choose to attempt as many as you like within the timeframe available – submissions for all three pieces close on Wednesday December 16th at midnight (UK time).

Manuel will then provide general technical feedback on some of the uploaded self-tape submissions via a video blog on Thursday December 17th 2020, highlighting common pitfalls and giving tips on how to improve framing, eyelines and other aspects of the self-tapes.

On Friday December 18th 2020 from 5pm UK time you will have the opportunity to put your questions directly to Manuel in a live online Q&A.

KEY DATES:
  • Friday December 11th – the Bootcamp starts and submissions open
  • Wednesday December 16th – Self-tape submissions close at midnight
  • Thursday December 17th – General feedback from Manuel on submissions will be posted on the platform
